In the International Interior Design Association’s New England Fashion Show of 2018, Sasaki partnered with local industry partners Nemo Tile, Luum Textiles, and Bernhardt Furniture to create two looks based on the theme “Reflections”. The team created these looks utilizing architectural design materials such as wall tiles, furniture upholstery, wire management cables, and fishing nets taken from the ocean. The fishing nets were draped as a base for the outfits for both the male and female models to blur the lines between gender. Then using penny round tiles, each tile was adorned to the net in a cascading pattern to create a shimmering effect. Using cable wire management, the sculptural “cages” were molded to create a mirrored pattern between the two models.
